Woodware challenge - Masking technique

I love the masking technique. You can punch, die cut or cut your own shape from a stamped image to create a positive or negative mask.

I use the amazing Woodware 'Mask-It' sheet to make my masks. It has a stampable surface and is easy to cut plus you can use the mask over and over again. The sticky or tacky surface is brilliant and never leaves a residue. The other good thing about Mask-It sheets is that your entire mask will have a tacky back making it easier to use.

Here I created a mask from my new stamp JGS363 Trinket Tree.

Stamp the image in black and emboss it with clear powder. Stick the mask over the image and run over the surface with a brayer inked with Kaleidacolor Caribbean Sea ink pad.

I then peeled away the mask to reveal a white tree. The image has been stamped again onto a second piece of card, coloured in the same way and the top layer cut

out to create a 3D area over the tree.

The background has been splattered with bleach.

Woodware challenge - Summer, mixed media

This card is made with the Creative Palette, one of my favourite things (more of that in a blog post to come in a few weeks) and my new stamp JGS367 Make a Flower.

I've used Crafters inks in sweet pea and limon mixed with hand sanitiser on the palette. Create patterns in the inks with objects found around the home. Place your card on top and peel away to reveal your original background paper.

Use Crafters ink pads in pinks and black to stamp the images and add a sentiment, mine is from JGS364 Mini Messages.

A simple sketch for this weeks challenge.

The flower stamp is JGS184 Alison and the text on the panel is JGS901 Birthday Textbox.

Colour the stamped and embossed flower with marker pens and

embellish with liquid pearls.

The background paper is from Woodware's Forever in Time paper pad called Graffiti.

Woodware challenge - The poppy, as we remember....

The Poppy….as we remember 

My metal embossed poppy card would make a nice picture for the wall....this card is a really BIG... 8" square!

I've used my stamp JGS160 which came out in 2012.

I stamped the poppy on a piece of red sheet metal with a black 'Surfacez' ink pad. 

Using the MercArt embossing tool trace the outline of the poppy from the front following the stamped outline then turn it over and use the larger embossing tools to shape and push the metal to create rounded petals. You will need to fill the back with MercArt embossed metal backing paste. Once dry this will keep the shape rounded.

Create patterns with the tools around the poppy head.

Woodware challenge - Card in a box

These boxes are everywhere just now and are fun to make.

This card is not made by me but made by Pauline one of the ladies who comes to my workshops at Japonica in Exmouth. She has made this especially for me. And what a wonderfully cheery bright card this is, I love it so much and wanted to share it with you all.
